On a new 700, cocking and applying safety, it is possible to raise the bolt almost to the totally unlocked position and pulling the trigger will allow firing pin to snap. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

John, without looking at it I can't explain exactly what's happening except to say that your safety ain't workin' right. :-) I recommend a trip to your local smith let him have a look. George

Well John, you've been absent too long. I still miss your byline in AH. Got any cute little girls making swirly marks in '03 bolts lately. Seriously, I'm glad to see you're still around and look forward to hearing more from you here on this board. You could be a great asset to us wanna-be's. They don't really need you on those other boards.
