CCI 41 primers plain white box 5.56

Saw some CCI primers for small rifle in a plain white box with black CCI on them. Also had for 5.56 anyone try these? $21.65 per 1,000 seems like a good deal. CCI in the blueish box were $30 per 1,000.

I am looking to use these for my AR rifle plinking mostly.

I know you can get wolf primers a couple dollars cheaper per 1000 but I cant justify sacrificing quality for a couple bucks. With the frenzy of paranioa out there if you can even find 223 supplies at a fair price buy it. I have started buying all my reloading components bulk to save money

There are a couple of things you might want to know about the 41 primers. The size is slightly larger in diameter-.1755 versus CCI 400 at .1753. Internally is the major difference where the distance between the tip of the anvil and the bottom of the cup is greater. The design helps eliminate slamfires in auto/ semi-auto rifles. If the price is right, I'd buy 'em.

CCI # 41 primers are Millitary Spec., they are a magnum primer with a harder cup (to prevent slam fires)

They work very well in 5.56 or 223 !!

I use them in my competion loads

You will need to reduce your powder charge a little, when useing data for
a standard primer

Been to Tilford's have ya? I bought some because of the price but haven't used them yet. I always use RP 7 1/2's. The CCI 41's will be for storing for a rainy day. I plan to not run low on primers like in the 1995 shortage of primers.

Nope, went to a shop in Shelbyville yesterday that I didn't know existed. I can't handle the smoke and lack of service at Tilford's. He use to have great prices now he is high IMO. The last few times I went there they were closed or you felt like you were bugging them. Mostly shop at Bud's now.

As for the primers, thanks for the info seemed like a good deal so I think I will get them.

+1 Exactly correct. I have noted, that some powders call for a magnum primer in one book and not in another book, so I don't know how important it is, but for semis, The #41 is a good idea. And for SU-16's I think it is an absolute MUST.
