A little light reading. . .

It's raining today, and the mail just arrived. Perfect! I am going to enlighten myself some more. (That one-click-purchase button at Amazon can be trouble. It's too tempting)

This one looked really interesting.

And these two are really impressive. Definite coffee table books that anybody would pick up and get lost in.

And this one.... I was just a little disappointed that it didn't come with a free gun, for what it cost. Geez. I hope it's a good read.

Now thats some good literature!! Thats the kind of stuff you WANT to see on the coffee table, and doctors offices. All I ever get is Good Housekeeping and Better Homes and Gardens

My doctor is a big hunter and he used to keep that sort of stuff out, but he said it kept getting stolen in a day or so. The only thing they won't steal is Good Housekeeping and Better Homes and Gardens.

I keep the Rifleman (NRA mag), Cowboy Chronicle (SASS Newspaper) and the local, small-town newspapers on the coffee table in my waiting room. I can normally learn something about my next appointment (if we've not previously met) by what they're reading when I come out to get them.

Oh great Tanker!! Thanks for pointing that out, Now I can only imagine what the staff of my doctors office thinks of me, since they always come out to get me when i have a Better Homes and Gardens rag in my hand. But they LEFT ME NO CHOICE! LOL

for some reason, those ugly pistols seem to appeal to me

Yes...Good set of books.

Every once in a while I get onto Amazon for books and you are right.

There is always some there that is worth having.

Does the book that Sam Fadala co-authored about Hobby Gunsmithing have much useful content about gunsmithing cap & ball revolvers?

'Looks like it covers revolvers in 8 pages. It touches almost everything, but doesn't go near the depth of the Pettifogger articles. I haven't read the book yet (only had it 1 day) but it appears geared more toward the long guns and single shot pistols, maintenance and lots of step-by-step building chapters on many popular kits. Just glancing through it, I think it goes really into depth on traditional guns. If that's the case, I'll have it back up for sale pretty soon. It cost more than the other 3 books combined and was supposed to be the Holy Grail of home gunsmithing books. And, it may well be, just not for revolvers. 'Might be lots of info and metal know-how that will apply from other guns that will be useful to have. And who knows.... I could end up with a traditional long gun if I will stop shopping for a new revolver every time I hear more than 4 coins rattling in my piggy bank.
