Michigan Black Bear
Took this 450 # Bear on September 19 at 7:30 pm at 70 yards with a 45/70 using a 405 gr. Rem. Core lock. The first shot was true to its mark but jest rolled off. I could not believe he jest hunch up and went about his business so I jacked round two this round hit high on the back putting it down.

Got a big black bear above the house here, attacking my deer feeder. Set the trail cam up yesterday to try and get some photos.

Thats one magnificent bear! But tell me how where the bugs, I've only been on one Mich bear hunt and the mosquitoes and flies where just horrendous! I came to the conclusion that me shooting a bear or the bear getting me would be judged a mercy killing.

What Taxidermist?
The bear that I took last year went 232# and I thought that it was a good sized bear, not a giant, but good for a Michigan blackie. Yours is a true monster! If I had it to do over I would have got a full mount also when after the fact I found that the cost wasn't much more than the rug that I had done. If you don't mind telling, who is the taxidermist that you are using. Again, congratulations on a great bear.
