Making my Mossy 500 pretty

The first gun I ever bought was my Mossberg 500. I love it and I still think for the money its the best shotgun on the market. Only problem is, its uglier than dirt. I'm sure there's some of ya'll out there who like the black military plastic look but I think its just hideous. I didn't realize I'd hate the look of it so much until after I bought it. I then realized I could have bought it in wood. Too late.

So....any recommendations on changing the butt and forend to wood? Is it hard? Pricey? Know any good places to buy the parts? Thanks guys!

You won't believe the prices here!!! Super low dough!!! High quality factory furniture!
Is it hard? NOPE. One bolt head under the butt plate/recoil pad and to remove the fore stock you unscrew barrel screw and do a field strip, remove the nut at front of fore stock. Pull to separate the stock from stock tube...

The easiest is to find a nice used wingmaster or Ithaca.

can make a dog pile smell like roses, but its still a dog pile.

Actually, as I mentioned in the OP, I'm in love with my 500. It's shot trap, dove/turkey/buck hunted, been soaked in streams and shot in the desert, its even been dropped several times. It's had over 10,000 rounds shot thru it and NEVER jammed - not once. I keep 'er good and cleaned. Only reason I wanna spruce 'er up is cuz she deserves it. Might be a dog pile to some but I'll bet she'll shoot as true if not truer than any wingmaster of Ithaca and I'll pump her as fast as any auto I've ever met. I'm of the mindset that any quality firearm depends more on the shooter than the arm itself, at least thats what I've found to be true.

Send it to sthrnfrdyankee(the wood). He does killer custom camo patterns on stocks. And they come out great. A 500 is a great gun and I have had the same one for 29 years with thousands of rounds thru her without a problem. When it gets bad out, Its my go to gun.
Used Wingmaster or Ithaca-300-500 bucks, Mossberg 500 new stock and forearm-50 bucks. Hmmmmm, What do you think??? Im going for the new wood.

Why do you think it's ugly

Maybe not pretty, but I think ugly is a little far. I LOVE my mossy, it hasn't been thru nearly as much as yours, but shes done her job. I tell people its a flashlight with attachments.

And yes that is the wing nut thing that the second barrel was attached to when I bought it. it makes a great flashlight holder.
