The Carl Gustaf 2000
Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? Especially in the 30/06 cal?
Here's the link http://home.swipnet.se/~w-53642/html/studsare.html You'll have to scroll down a bit and you'll see it. I would also really apprechiate any recomendations for a brand of 30/06 as I'm looking to purchase my first rifle. I'm thinking a bolt action, and of course a scope. Thank you, Magnus |

Those guys can't spell very well, but it sure does look like a nice rifle. I don't think we have those in the united states. I'd bet that it's very hard to make a poor decision with a modern turnbolt rifle from ANY european or american manufacturer. I do know that the BRNOs are nice, I just haven't seen the Gustafs around these parts. I certainly wouldn't rule out Tikka or Sako. Sorry, that doesn't help you much at all, I know... Good choice of caliber, that's for sure!

Its a rather good approximation of the classic CG 1900. An ok rifle but be aware of the safty that only blocks the trigger. I would also make sure to try the trigger action of that rifle before bying one.
A friend of mine have an early version of that rifle in .308win that works ok but have some creep in the trigger but basically ist a reasonably good rifle. <edit> if you happen to be Swedish, there is a good reweive of this rifle in the oct. or nov issue of "allt om jakt och vapen" magazine. <End edit> Best regards Ursus

First freedom
On this particular Mauser you don't need to pull up/unlock the bolt and then back to my understanding. You just slide it straight back and fourth and there you go. Claims to be quicker for a follow up shot. I don't know if you read Swedish but that's a rough translation for you of the text below. Magnus Last edited by Magnus; January 5, 2006 at 02:32 PM. |

Magnus, what are you looking for?
A nice custom rifle? - Then check German and Austrian manufacturers, too. A good shooter? - They practically all shoot well, if you use the right ammo. Don't forget Tikka & Sako, either. A less expensive good shooter with nordic flair? - Then go for an m/96. A less expensive good shooter with straight pull action? - K31, no doubt. A good hunting rifle? - Depends on what you're going to hunt. A decent Mauser is always a good choice. |
