45acp w/Nosler 185g JHP and unique?
Looking to make some light loads with Unique for Smith 625 revolver, I ask about Unique only because I am saving my other powders for other loads.
This is only for basic plinking at reactive metal targets at 25yds. Cycling is not an issue due to the fact that its a 45acp revolver, I see in the Lyman book it starts at like 4.8 and is in the 600's fps range and goes up to 7.8 if I remember correctly. Thought I would make some 5.0 loads and also a batch of the 7.8 loads, I see the Alliant site lists Unique up to 8.2 for 185grain bullet. Any actual experiences with this specific power and 185g jacketed bullet both at the high range and low range? |

YEP, SHOT UP THOUSANDS, but not with any of those puny loads. We worked up to 8.0GRS UNIQUE with the original 185grJHP bullets available and used that load henceforth in every 45ACP sixgun and pistol available. It was/is a tackdriving load and deadly when needed.
