How well does the 9mm function in a 1911? I understand that 9x23 and 38 Supers function OK. Does a ramped barrel offer any advantage over a non-ramped one in feeding the 9mm? With a 124 gr.FMJ I don't think I can get the OAL much more than 1.180".

Colt has made both the full size Government Model and various shorties in 9mm, and they work fine. Some of the other makers who have gone that route have had problems. The 9 x 19 requires a special magazine as well as changes to the ejector and slide.

Jim, I am going to start out with a 9mm Caspian slide and frame. The only 9mm mags I have seen listed in Brownells are 9rd. from Colt and Metalform. I would like to have a 10rd. mag. One of the local matches I shoot has a 10rd. max. mag. capacity, any caliber larger than a .380. There are 10rd. mags. for the .38 Super, but I like the cheap 9mm stuff.
