FL one day CCW?
Not sure if this section is the best place to post this but here goes.
I was told that some places in FL if you are a resident you can go in and out in 1 day and get your CCW permit providing you provide proof of training and pass background check and such. If this is true do they offer this for non-resident permits for those visiting FL? I have a friend heading there on the first and is wanting to get his permit but wants to avoid the snail mail wait if possible. Thanks.

You could certainly take the class and fill out all the forms in one day. But the quickest turn-around time I'm aware of is two weeks to get the permit in the mail. I have no idea if it applies to non-resident permits.

Same Day? NOT!!
Home page of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services:
http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html The link pertaining to eligibility: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/eligible.html Processing Time For Applications: "Once the Division of Licensing has your complete application, it will take about 90 days for the Division to process it and notify you of the outcome. Processing may take longer than 90 days if additional information regarding criminal records must be obtained."

You can speed up the processing time by going to one of the centers and having your prints done electronically.
I went the regular method, and it took about 6 weeks total |

When I was a FL resident, I used electronic printing at the Sheriff's office, and turnaround was about two weeks.
The only one-day thing I know of in FL for CCW is that there is no waiting period to buy a handgun. Give the FFL your permit and DL, fill out the 4473 while he makes a phone call, and walk out the door with your new handgun. Of course, this doesn't help a non-resident, since non-residents can't buy a handgun in FL (unless they have it shipped to a home-state FFL). No walking out the door with one. |
