??? Rings for an AR-7 ????
I'd like to put a 3x9 Scope ( BSA, Tasco, Leaper etc.) on my AR-7 and need some rings that will work on it. The AR-7, unlike my Old Mauser single shot bolt action which has groves cut into the top of the receiver, has a raised ridge running from the rear sight to the front of the receiver. The rings for the mauser fit down into the groves, so I don't know if standard .22 cal rings will work??? Anyone got any suggestions??? THANX--SNEAKY

i have mine configured for sound suppressed mode and never threw a scope
on it. for me, having it as compact as possible was the key though I've looked into better aperature sight etc. http://ar7.imoutdoorshosting.com/store/page77.html

I don't recommend this, but I will tell you what I did to mine (I was just a kid when I did this).
I cut the rear sight hood off with a hack saw so that a .22 scope could be mounted to that ridge as if it were the grooves that you talk about. It works, but it destroyed the resale value of the AR-7. Way back when my dad bought it for me (about 25 years ago) Charter Arms used to make an actual scope mount that bolted to the side along with the receiver side plate. I kinda wish I had saved up for one of those when I was a kid. The stock AR-7 is NOT intended to mount a scope. |
