Does Anybody Else Hate S&B Brass?
I have a No.1 Mk.4 Lee Enfield in .303 Brit. On five occasions a reload caused a case separation with half the case lodged in the chamber. Upon inspection every single case was an S&B. No other brand of case has ever failed in that rifle. Makes me think S&B brass is garbage. Am I wrong?

Love the Tokarev brass because the primer pockets are so strong.
Hate the Mosin brass because the primer pockets are so shallow. I don't know what to say about the shotgun shells, but they are odd.

I have 3 303 chambered rifles and 5 in various stages of becoming something else. When choosing brass I measure the rim thickness, then I measure case head thickness from the bottom of the cup to the case head. I choose not to shoot cases that were said to be made in Italy. I believe the case heads were stamped Foekochokohney, the case heads were .147" thick, I prefer .200"+.

Are you neck sizing only or full-length sizing?

Are you NSOing your brass?
One thing about British 303 rifles is the generous and varying headspace and chamber shapes. If you want brass to last, you must NSO and dedicate fired brass to a particular rifle. I have SB 303 brass made in Prague and it is holding up just fine. |

I had severe issues with priming S&B on the press, and my 1942 Lithgow SMLE had several strange FTF with my reloads with S&B and only S&B that were never explained. The rifle didn't like the factory ammo either (it didn't group as well as with Prvi, though all 20 rounds fired OK out of the box), so I never saw fit to buy more.
