search function down?

So, I cant get the search function to return ANY results, even when I search for keywords I KNOW are in the title and post of a thread from the same day of the search. Even the words "gun" and "firearm" come back with nothing, and I find it hard to beleive no one has ever used the word "firearm" on this site.

is there a know issue with the search function, or is it just me somehow?
Sorry if this is a dupe and has been explained. I didnt see anything browsing thru, and obviously cant do a search for "search" so....

Thanks.

Yes, it does appear to be broken.

We have just moved everything over to a new (faster? better?) server in the last couple of days. I don't think tyme has all the bugglies and cobwebs knocked out of it yet.

Hopefully, it won't be too much longer.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like search is down again. Searching for "gun" yields no results.

Just an FYI. Thanks for your hard work guys!

You have to be a little more creative there, gstlouis. The word "gun" is not included in the search index. Can you imagine how large the number of returns would be if it were allowed on a 100% firearms board?

Now, having said that and even though your test was flawed, it does look like word search isn't working again. (I searched on Ruger and then on Remington - no joy.) However, search for member posts and new posts does appear to be working.

It's back up with an ugly hack that will restart it every 2 minutes if it breaks again.

Down again it seems. Pistol and handgun bring no results when searching the Gun Show forums.

This is retarded. It's dying somehow, and leaving behind lock files that prevent it from starting back up again.

It's up. Ugly hacks are sometimes required.
