Handguns with Conversion Kit options

Was looking at the idea of buying an EAA Witness P because of the option of buying conversion kits to switch to 9mm, 22, 40, & 45.
Are there any other guns in a good price range that also offers that same capability?

A friend bought one of the EAA Combo Kits.

Here is a link to the .45 ACP version,,,
They are out of stock on the 9mm version.

His kit has worked very well for him,,,
He runs hi-velocity .22 and has not had any problems.

Sig-Sauer has several conversion kits,,,
But being Sig-Sauer they aren't inexpensive,,,
They sell a .22 conversion kit for many of their pistols.

The one I have is a CZ-75B Kadet,,,
The only problem is that they aren't cheap.

The 9mm pistol alone will run you around $532.00,,,
The Kadet adaptor will run you $428.00.

I'm sure there are others out there,,,
These are the ones I have some familiarity with.

The Sig an CZ kits may be a little more expensive, but from what I read, they are worth it. Very good quality and reliable.

The CZ kit can be hard to come by from my understanding, and the Sig kits are only a little better.

The Sig p320 can do caliber changes, but not to 22lr right now.

Wow, I didn't realize that the CZ Kadet kit had gotten so expensive. For $100 more, you could probably get the whole Kadet gun.

They are nice. I've had mine since 2002ish and I think I paid under $300. It's the only 22LR handgun I shoot anymore and I don't see any need to buy another. It fits on all my CZ75s (9mm and 40S&W '75B and '75D PCR). Very accurate, great sights, very reliable, easy to clean.

I have a Ruger revolver that has two cylinders, one in 22 long rifle, the other 22 magnum.

Does that count?

If you're getting the Witness, just know that the 9mm version can only go to a 22 and a 40, not a 45. I bought it with the intention of 22 and 45, customer service informed me that the PS model won't convert to that.

Also, you can get them for under 300 deliver on cdnnsports

The Sig P938 has a .22 conversion available and any Glock 19 and 26 can be converted to shoot .40 with a slide and mag change.

Doesn't CZ offer the centerfire with a Kadet Conversion as a set?

BTW, I bought mine separately (and imported the Kadet from Germany).

CZ discontinued the standalone CZ Kadet last year. If you find one, it'll probably be a used one.

I've had a Kadet Kit for years -- and bought it back when they were more reasonably price.

At the time I had a long-barreled Ruger Target Competition/Government model in stainless. The Kadet Kit was just as accurate, and I later traded the Ruger for a Witness Sport Long Slide in .45. (I still have another Ruger .22, and I miss that stainless beauty, sometimes, but the Kadet is really a fine addition ... but not for over $400.)

The design of the Kadet Kit lets it be mounted on different CZ frames without issues -- as the barrel, upper assembly (which looks like a slide, but isn't), and sights are all a single unit (in terms of being locked together.) Very accurate.

Don't forget about Glocks. You can convert them to many calibers.

Lone Wolf Distributors makes conversion barrels for many Glocks so if you got a 40s&w version (G22, G23, G24, G27, G35), with just a barrel change, you can convert it to 9mm (requires 9mm mags) or 357sig. The 10mm Glocks (G20, G29, G40) have a broader range of conversion barrels as you can convert it to 9mm, 40s&w, 357sig, 38 Super, and 9x25. The 45acp Glocks (G21, G30, G36, G41) can also be converted to 45 Super with just a Recoil Assy Spring change and there are barrels to convert them to 10mm (requires 10mm mags), 40 Super and 460 Rowland (along with a compensator).

I have a full-size M&P .40-- love it. Holes in holes at 15 yards. Bought a Stormlake 9mm conversion barrel. Again, holes in holes. Two guns in one, either of which is far more accurate than I could ever be.

I'm a wheel gun man at heart but own a few semi-autos; if I were to get rid of all but one, this is the one I'd keep.

Didn't they switch to the 45 frame for all their pistols for this reason?

Over 1800 fps(FUN per sec.) w/ the 22TCM round and the ability to fire 9mm too! Fat grip, like a 92fs, because of the double stack goodness that is 17 rounds. Rock Island Armory offers a .45/.22 conversion too. Check out the Glock conversion coming out in 22 TCM 9R. I really like what RIA is bringing to market. Innovation, reasonable pricing, reliable product. I like mine!

+1 for Glock. I've got 9mm and .357 Sig conversions for my 27, and they make .22 conversions too. They are just so stupid easy... and Lone Wolf barrels seem to be really well made. I think they're great. The only reason I really got my Glock is that it is fun to play with. Like an AR, you can just customize it and dink with it constantly- there are SOOOO many modifications you can do.

All of the RIA 22TCM pistols come with 9mm barrels and RIA also offers a. 45ACP/ 22lr 1911 pistol.

If you can find a Browning Hi Power in .40S&W, you can get a 9mm conversion barrel for it and you might be able to scare up a .357sig conversion barrel also.

If you are into pain and frustration, you can get a 9mm BHP and try to find a .41AE barrel for it. The pain and frustration comes from the search for ammo.

Furthermore, Ciener makes .22lr conversion top ends for it. Pain to deal with the company, but the product is working well for me.

A Glock G22 or G23 can be a 4 caliber gun, as was mentioned. Advantage Arms makes reasonable .22lr conversion top ends. This is probably the least difficult conversion kit out there.

Apex is rumored to be working on a .22lr upper for the full-sized M&P 40 and M&P 9. Nothing for compacts of .45 yet. Others make 9mm and .357sig barrels to work for the .40S&W M&P

DON'T forget the 1911!

If you buy the right 1911 [Springfield, for example], you can get a 1911 in .45acp, shoot .45Super out of it, get a .460Rowlands conversion kit, as well as a .400CorBon barrel AND buy a .22lr conversion top end.

The .460Rowland is pretty particular about who makes the frames: RIA isn't on the list, for example.

I like the idea of a 1911 with 5 calibers [.45acp, .45super, .400CorBon, .460Rowland and .22lr].

Jericho makes the 941, which was like the witness and you could swap 9mm barrels out with the 40 caliber. On another forum a guy had good luck with a Witness .22lr upper on the Jericho, but the safety didn't work.

Had a Colt .22 Conversion Unit for a Colt 1911 style pistol, barrel, slide, spring. It had a 'floating chamber' that was supposed to make the recoil similar to the .45 ACP. It was marginal at best. Picky about ammo. Not very accurate. I sure would not recommend it. But remember, this is just ONE example and opinion.

Another vote for the Glock route to ammo versatility.
Pick whichever 40 or 357sig model you want, get a Advantage Arms 22lr conversion kit for your specific Glock model, then add whatever Lone Wolf barrels you want.
It all swaps in/out/around in just seconds.

Problem is... after the AA conversion and a barrel or two you could have bought a nice Buckmark.

I was mainly looking for something I could change to different calibers, not just a 22, but just change out barrels from maybe a 9 to a 40, 45, or a 22, by just changing out different caliber barrels, without changing slide also. I see that the 22lr conversion kit is 349., way too much for me. I'd rather just buy a new gun if that was the case. I would just like something that I could just swap out barrels, if they make something like that without having to change out the slide too.
