mission accomplished
hello all, this year I not only filled both of my spring hunting tags but I also took a black bear for the first time and it is also the first time I have taken a game animal with open sights. it was quite a challenge and probably wont do so again anytime soon as it was dumb luck that I managed to get this guy.
I used a Japanese Arisaka type 44 cavalry carbine in it's original 6.5x50mm. he's nothing special by national standards but for the mountains up here he is a pretty respectable 250pounds(before field dress)

neither of my mosins are accurate enough for me to trust them for just about anything but steel plates. same story with my MAS36. I have killed squirrels with my springfields, enfield and the same t44 so I still love them for plinking and varminting. I just barely took this little guy though, my accuracy with irons isn't very impressive so I prefer scoped for hunting.
