Wondering if anyone with actual experience with an installed pistol grip forend would offer their opinion on whether or not they liked the upgrade. Thanks Much.

I actually just installed one on my hd 870. I love it so far. Works very well with my specops stock. It does take some getting used to though

Tried it a long time ago on the 500, actually I've tried just about every stock option they make trying to make the perfect HD shotgun and after putting several hundred rounds through the 500, I've gone back to the factory wood stock, just shortened it up about an inch....couldn't be happier with it now.

Dont much care for the things too here. They tend to snag brush and load a cleared action very fast. Like a lot of things they look better in pictures than in real use.

This was one of those neat ideas that failed to pan out in the real world.
The reason they were temporally popular is because an Ithaca Model 37 cut down to a pistol with a pistol grip fore end was featured on the TV show Miami Vice. What people found out is that the pistol grip fore end wouldn't allow the shotgun to be "pointed" as well or as fast as a standard fore end, and it transfered too much recoil to the left hand. For a time you saw a lot of them on the range and in some matches, but as people figured out the downsides, they disappeared from serious guns. |

i like how fast i can work the action with a vert grip on the fore-end and it works great for an HD gun but for a practical field or trap firearm it makes very little sense
