Stainless Steel Scratch

I just bought a used SP101 and it has a few scratches in one area , just under the left side , below the cylinder .

I have seen the youtube repairs on stainless guns . I have also heard that this would mess up the finish on the gun and that it has a coating on the steel .

It looks like just plain SS to me .

Would standing the scratches out cause more trouble than just leaving them alone .

The stainless Rugers like this, that I've seen, have sort of a non-glossy finish to them, as if they had been either been lightly blasted with a fine grit, or were placed in a tumbler. If you try to sand this out, even with very fine grits (400 and up), it will show. It may have to be polished down to remove the scratches, and then have it slightly blasted with something like a 400 grit abrasive.
