Mossberg 500 0r Remington 870 - Page 2

never owned a 500 but to everyone saying the 870 is heavier and more rugged, pick up a 590-A1 and see if you still say the same thing.

I shoot rifles and shotguns left handed, the release on my 500 is in the perfect spot with the pistol grip stock I've got.

I'd feel adequately well served by either, but currently I have a Remington 870. I'd like to add a Mossberg persuader as well though.

The Remington Model 870 is my choice. Got two of them and they just shoot great and never had any problems whatsoever with either. The 870 has been around forever and there is a good reason for that. They function well and are dependable, not matter what.

I agree this is sort of a neverending debate. Both are good guns, and I think a lot of it comes down to "how it feels" person to person. Personally, I own the 500. Its a solid gun, never an issue in the 12 years I've owned it. And the price was definitely right. Both guns are highly customizable. The 870 Wingmaster is just more than I'd ever pay for a 12 ga pump. The 870 Express wont break the bank, but to me it certainly had a distinct "low-end" look and feel in the stock and forearm wood, and with the matte metal finish. I guess they're both good guns, but the Mossberg hasn't ever done me wrong, so I have no reason to switch.

I like the Browning BPS. The fit,finish and wood are outstanding The pump action is butter smooth and bottom eject is nice for lefties.
