Finally Got It Right: Ultimate Carry .38 Snub

Started with Smith's then a Colt Detective Special, then the Agent, and finally finished mod'ing this unfired 1976 Colt Cobra.

light weight, 6 shots, bobbed hammer, Gary Dean trigger job, Jim Badger grips

This is it, a keeper, boys and girls. Finally got it right.

I won't argue with you. And I know looks don't count for anything in a carry gun but......niiiice

Needs to be stainless, but, other then that, your monkey is perfect.

What did the trigger, DA test at?

You know, I'm not sure what the DA trigger tests at.

I know it is smoooth, smoooth, smoooth like my Fanner 50 cap pistol was.

Very nice looking Cobra. Now that you have it set up right, are you going to shoot it? Seems like a shame to let those mods go to waste.

If I went back to a wheelgun, that's what I'd want. You nailed it. I just can't give up my PPK.

I've looked at your picture for 2 days in a row of your little Colt. Since I keep pulling up this thread just to look at the picture I feel compelled to say.....

That is a beaut!!!!!! It's almost too pretty to carry around huh? Now don't have any metal stuff in the same pocket with that baby. It would be a shame to scratch it.

Wow!
Anyway, if some gunsmith found a way to put a shorter hammer spring in a S&W M&P and shortened the grip, that could be a dangerous opponent to your Cobra

That's a beauty!

My Cobra was also unfired when I bought it, but what good is an unfired Colt?

agreed! Colt = smoke

The grips were done by Jim Badger.

These are his usual boot grips with the fingergrooves:

He sells them for $69.95 w/o the medallions.

I asked him if he could make a slightly shorter, thinner grip and about a week and a half later, the silver/blacks showed up! Couldn't be more pleased with them.

(note how they barely cover the bottom of the strap...just what I was looking for)

I'm tellin' ya right now, if you want custom grips, Jim Badger is the man!

A fine looking piece. I've yet to own a Colt but photos like yours bring me a little closer each time I see them.

EXCELLENT choice in handguns... here is a pic of my old Cobra (since sold) next to my Rohrbaugh I used for size comparison at the time.

Nice combo with the Badger grips!

And that really puts the size in perspective.

If weight's not an issue to you, snag a clean Detective Special. They're less expensive and more available.

Great shooting guns.
