Savage 99 ID
Recently a Savage 99 followed me home. Tracked down the serial number, etc. What has me confused is, on the lever boss, wher ethe model designation is supposed tobe, the only thing there is an asterisk (*)
What the heck does that designate?? Any input would be appreciated bruce/BirdogForge |

You can get production dates for pre-1950 Savage 99 rifles at savage99.com.
The letter on the lever boss does not indicate model, it is a production date code. The letter on the lever boss started after Savage updated the rifle in the mid 1950s, iirc. What cartridge is your rifle chambered for? What is the stock design?
