What about stag arms?

Was set on sig m400e and saw a stag ad in a mag. infinite round warranty. sounds impressive, is their product as good as their boasting?

I have a stag 8, love it. It's very accurate and very reliable. I'd buy another.

It's a piston so maybe, how deep you want to bury it? I've never had an ftf,fte or any failure. But I don't torture test either.

Stag's parent company is CMT..... who makes a majority of the entire AR industries parts, for various makers, including the trigger groups for Colt, both civilian and Military, the make forged receivers for I would say well over half the roll marks you see or hear of.

They have a full life time warranty, and they are the ONLY Mfg to lifetime warranty their barrel.

They keep the prices down because their parent company is the one making a lot of the parts. I have owned two in the past and both were as rock solid as my BCM's and other more $$$ AR's, I never hesitate to recommend them to people looking for a solid entry level AR. You can pay a little extra and get their mil-spec package included with their rifle (MPI and HPT testing) if you think you would loose sleep at night with out it.

All that being said, they also stood loud and proud against the ANTI's and still do, and continue to make new ideas to get around ban states stupid draconian laws, so at the very least, Stag deserves respect and a nod of the head.

Sig's are nice.. but sadly over priced in the grand scheme of things. Unless you really want a ambi mag release, I would say spend the money you would on a Sig for a BCM or Colt instead.

If you are shopping Sub $1000 mark... I really do highly recommend Stag. I owned two, a plain model 3 optics ready, and a 3G competition. I have sold quite a bit of every brand mentioned, not really a lot of problems ever with any of them, but Stag is the cheapest of the lot, gives you more room for optics, ammo, mags, furniture, rail, whatever you'd like.

I have Stag, PSA and Rock River, all were bought in the $700-$800 price range. They are all set up differently, but I honestly cannot tell any difference in performance. All 3 have worked 100% and are quite accurate. I don't see how a $2000 gun would have been any better.

i know what you mean. i was thinking of a bushmaster acr 1800 bucks. but it just seems the ar15 line is superior for less than half the cost

I have a $2000+ AR.... I have a BCM/HSP JACK Carbine. I love the gun don't get me wrong, but I have too many AR's than I should. That said there are difference, but you are mainly splitting hairs, basically mostly just aftermarket parts you can buy for any rifle. If you add the parts up on my Jack it would cost more to built, and that's not the exclusive Cerakote color, and no $200 HSP Training certificate.

I like AR's so I invest in them quite extensively, but I recommend Stag to customers daily looking for a good all purpose starter AR.

Have a Stag AR in 6.8 SPC.
It's awsome, accurate, reliable, gain 40% in power over the 5.56(.223) round.
Took a whitetail on a dead run at 120 paces 2 yrs. ago with 110 Hornady
b-tips, took it's head off.
Also have 4 ARs in 5.56, DPMS, Armalight, Remington, & DoubleStar.
No issues with any of them.
Stag is popular, not over priced, & I've read positive reviews.

My Stag's are as well made as my Colt or DD, shoot just as well and all three brands have never offered a malfunction. My tightest shooter is a PSA--FN m4 barrel build using DD and other high quality parts to meet my desires. The Stag cost less than others but is no slouch in the shooting game.

I have a Stag 6.8 upper. It's been great so far. If I were to buy a Stag 5.56 upper, I would get the upgrade package. The standard upper would be fine, but I have two Rock River uppers and want something different.

I've seen other vendors putting them on sale, and Walmart sells them (although not in my area).

I had a factory-built Stag and currently have a self-built one. I also have a Colt. The Stags are nice; the Colt is nicer. At the above prices, you can't go wrong.

Another option is to buy a complete upper and complete lower as separate pieces and mate them together when you get them. You'll save $$ because the federal excise tax is based on the value of the lower plus whatever is attached to it. Complete Colt and Stag uppers are available. Get one of those and mate it to a PSA complete lower ($159 for the standard version).

You definately can't go wrong with a Colt at those prices especially. As for building one, or at-least putting a complete upper on a lower... It is not difficult, you may save some buy not tons of money unless skimping on quality.

Here's my experience. I ordered a Stag a few years ago. Have the plus package and left handed model 2. Bought a Sig M400 last year. My Stag will shoot brass factory ammo, steel casing ammo, & reloads. The Sig will not shoot the steel casing ammo. Every gun is different I know. My Stag with the Burris 536 scope will hit pop cans at 227 yards. That's the longest straight stretch that I have found so far. 3,000 rounds last count. I don't even clean this gun like people say you should do.

IIRC, federal excise tax on firearms is 10%. For the Stag lower, that would be $27. For the complete Colt 6920 from DSG, the tax would be $90. The difference would be $63, minus the extra shipping charge for two shipments instead of one. My guess is you'd come out $50 ahead for slightly more effort (perhaps a few minutes extra online).

Is $50 tons of money? Nope. But it does buy ammo or some extra mags. For me, it would be worth it.

I'm close to 10k rounds with no parts replacement aside from adding a red dot and free floating the barrel with a seeking precision tube

I've found my stag model 2 to be awesome and pretty solid through plinking, competition, and several hard run high round count carbine courses (with both brass cased and every brand of cheap steel cased....even Tula)

While I'd consider bcm an upgrade, my stag has been great and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'd say ditch the sig, like colt you're paying extra for the name and the increase in quality isn't significant to justify the price hike.

I'd trust my life to my stag.

After some serious research on what I wanted (a reliable AR-15 that could shoot coyotes at 300 yards), I settled on a Stag Arms Model 6. I topped it with an old 3.5x10 Tasco scope made in Japan with some Nikon m223 rings. I couldn't be happier! This gun will shoot! Her is my first five shots at 200 yards.
