Raise front sight on Buckmark Hunter?

Howdie,

I just bought a Browning Buckmark Hunter, which I love -- except that it is shooting high. I put Williams firesights on the rear, and the front sight is already quite high to accommodate the raised rib.

I've lowered the rear sight as low as it can possibly go, but I'm still shooting high... same data confirmed by my bore laser.

Does anyone know of a fiber optic front sight that would be compatible and is still higher than the standard Hunter sight?

Or, any strategy so that the front sight could be about 1/32" higher? I'm not sure anything short of making a small riser will work. I suppose I could cut a piece of plastic to size, drill a hole, add a pin, etc..

Maybe, I'll buy a cheap hi-viz front sight and reshape it into the riser.

Opinions?

Ihad same issue after installing fire sight on my buckmark. Contacted Williams and they are aware of some Buckmarks having this problem. They sent me a kit that solves the problem.

Thanks. Would you mind describing what they sent, or maybe an item number?

I just went to shop and checked the package. It is marked Buckmark long and the number is 70231. I believe that is the replacement package but not absolutely certain.Williams sent me an entire rear sight as a replacement. I called them seeking help when I was unable to adjust the impact with the firesights when I first installed the original. Do not remember to whom I spoke but remember the gentleman being very helpful and knowledgeable.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

From the look of that model online, it seems too short. It looks like the sight for the Camper, Whisper, etc.. I think it is 7/16. Does that seem right to you?

The sight on mine is 15/32, but needs to be at least 9/16" (.5625").

I phoned Williams (and Marble) -- no help from either.

However, Dawson Precisions will make me a custom sight for a reasonable price.

BTW, I just did all the calculations -- for anyone who runs into the same problem: Williams firesights on Buckmark Hunter -- front sight must be minimum of .53125, ideally .5625"

I had no sense that the replacement sight assembly was shorter or longer than the one it replaced. It simply corrected the point of impact, fits like it is supposed to do and works well for me.
