9mm Load data for lead and alliant powders
Guys im looking for data for alliant powders:
power pistol in particular with lead projectiles in 115, 124/5, 135, and 145/7 grain variations. I am thinking something like: 115: 5.5 124/5: 5.5 135: 5.0 145/7: 4.5 I would appreciate any help....I am trying to get my hands on a lyman load manual...none of my manuals have data...alliant havent contacted me back with anything for lead yet. Thanks, |

!WARNING! The following is unpublished load data and isn't recommended by myself, TFL, it's staff, or anyone that's willing to admit it! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
With the help of another longtime shooter and TFL member, I worked up a load using Dardas 125gr LRN bullets in 9mm with Alliant Power Pistol and loaded to a COAL of 1.140" using CCI-500 small pistol (non-mag) primers. I started at 5.5gr and ended up at 6.3gr safely and successfully. I'm going forth with this load using hard cast 125gr LRN bullets in 9mm. Start LOW and work up incrementally. The pistol you save may be your own and include parts of your hand and face!

I'm using hard cast projectiles too. I think I can safely start at 5.5grains and if needed work up.
i do need to meet a minimum of 120 power factor....but i;d expect a 125 with 5.5 power pistol should move faster than 1000fps so that should be enough....im not looking to push the maximum just find something accurate that meets my requirements. |

For those who find this thread. I did a little testing of my own with my STI Trojan 9mm using lead cast 115g Semi Wadcutters and 125g Round Nose and Alliant Power Pistol.
125 LRN 1.125" OAL 5.0g PP, 1082 fps 4.4g PP, 992 fps 4.0g pp, 924 fps 3.7g pp, 861 fps 115g LSWC 1.077" OAL 4.8g pp, 1067 fps 4.4g pp, 1019 fps 4.0g pp, 957 fps 3.7g pp, 876 fps Note that I was looking for light target loads and experimenting with a number of powders (Power Pistol and ADI on this occasion). Alliant do not recommend going below their recommended starting loads (4.8g and 5.0g respectively) and I am not recommending anything - just presenting my findings under my shooting conditions.
