TXGunNut - if you live near a college or university, you may be able to get a marketing class to do a market study for you for the experience. I know we did several for local businesses when I was in school. |

Hey, give him a break!
I mean, he used to live in a pretty rough neighborhood.
. . . . No, I mean four officer-involveds in DIFFERENT back yards. And, they were spread over a period of 20 years. Johnny |

The shooting in question was not in my "back yard" at the time, it is now. Long sad story, nobody involved wants to talk about it. I knew the subject's father and the officer involved. Neither I nor Johnny were involved at the scene or in the investigation. 'Nuff said.
My neighborhood at that time was actually tougher, buy me a drink and ask me about my dope-dealing neighbor sometime. Point is, we both regret that a new or prospective reloader can't walk into a gun store in our neck of the woods and find a knowledgeable staff and a comprehensive inventory of tools and components. The old-time gun shop is probably on the endangered species list and we're going to miss them. I'm trying to figure out how to give the hobbyist reloader the experience I and Johnny had. Times have changed, I think it can be done but I'm not moving forward until I work out a few issues. Johnny, did you ever think Jim would make such a good gunwriter?

Dr Strangelove, I happen to know a marketing professor who teaches nearby. He and I generally talk about Camaros and road bicycles but he may be able to give me an objective viewpoint or possibly make a project out of it.
Great idea, thanks!

Like ever other endeavor, you have to focus on a nitche that is
being underserved and for which there is demand and do it with less overhead than anyone else. Since there is an ammo shortage, I have thought about some kind of facility where customers could come in and make their own ammo and tent the equipment etc. But of course we are talking about dangerous explosive stuff that doesnt tolerate novice mistakes very well. I guess the liability would be too big. Except for the fact that I think we are in an ammo bubble where everyone has been loading up for a while, I would almost suggest you go into commercial ammo loading. I believe in the next year or two all the ammo factories that have ramped up production are going to find themselves with boatloads of ammo that they cannot sell due to everyone having their own personal ammo cache to last several decades. |
