Sks and ny state
Just got my sks back from my nephew. I want to modify it. Can I change the stock to a pistol grip type as long as I do not change the magazine? Also if I do this would I be able to make any other modifications on it? Thank you.

as long as you leave the factory mag in place it should be fine, but you'll also have 922R to contend with.

Swiped this fair and square from another site.
A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following characteristics is illegal in NYS: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a bayonet mount; (iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; (v) a grenade launcher. Suggest you rummage around here. http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?board=12.0

Keep the SKS as it ...

Very good!
The SKS is best kept as it was manufactured. The designers knew what they were doing and it accomplishes its intended purposes very well. |
