.308 caliber loads with Berger VLD

I'm wondering if anyone had any comments on loading the Berger VLD bullets in 30-06 and 300 Winchester magnum? I want to try these for shooting whitetails out farther. Can they be seated short enough for the magazine in the 300 wm and still be accurate? I'm playing the high BC and match grade card. I'll be dealing with the 168 grain VLD.
