Had a chance to put a few rounds through a S&W Model 76 last week. Nice gun. Trigger pull was a bit heavy, though. How available are these guns? Any idea what the price is for a transferrable model 76?

I don't know about the SW 76, but if you want cheap, look at the Stemple 76/.45.

A copy of the SW 76 in .45 caliber. (Hense the name)
They were made by Stemple out of Ohio.
JLM has them for $1595. http://www.blackrivermilitaria.com/jlm~weapons.html
I've taken one out. Nice. But, like you said nasty trigger pull. SAR recently ran an article on it.
If I remember, the SW 76 is a copy of the Gustav designed, Swedish K. The Egyptian Port Siad is also a copy.

Not bad for the price. (Although, I'm saving my pennies for a Vector arms Uzi......)

Can't tell you the price, but S&W still has some M76s in storage. What's more, they've got a custom magazine loader that works like a charm. It's big and heavy but once you line those bullets up and work the loading arm, they pop those bullets in fast!

Yea, I know S&W has some in storage, because the one I shot was at S&W Academy just last week
