Another Help me choose Thread (Cz75 content)
Here's my dilemma. First world Problems, I know.
So I had my mind made up to order a CZ 75Bd (Black finish w/Decocker $519) I've been wanting a 75 for a long time. It will be the last purchase I make for quite a while. Enter the Canik (tristar) L-120. This clone is $375..and is Satin Chrome Cerakote. (The look I prefer)..But does not have the decocker (which I can live with). The Canik TP55 Has also caught my attention. for$300. So my question for you all...Would you get the "Brand Name CZ" or would you rather get two guns of the Canik Brand?? I do like the walther P99, but will probably never pony up the money for one...but at $300 Shipped..the Canik Clone is tempting. |

Your choice, both are good
I have 2 97B's (one shiny blue, one poly coat), a shiny stainless 75B 9mm, a black poly 75B 40 S&W and a Canik Shark C. The Canik is the same as the Tristar t-100... Turkish made... And it is fabulous. Buy the Tristar first then start building your CZ collection!

Just went to the range yesterday. The CZs are nice, but IMO not worth the premium over TriStar.
By the way. I luv it without the de-cocker. |

I purchased the CZ 75 P01 for my wife last year. I love the gun and so does she. This year I purchased the Canik Stingray for myself. The Singray is the imitation of CZs' Rami. You should know that while both brands perform admirably, the Canik is a brick in terms of weight. The Canik is easier to tear down than the CZ simply due to the design of the pin that holds the structure together. When you disassemble both guns, the construct is exactly the same. I suspect the same to be true with the models you mentioned.
I strongly suggest you spend some time reading professional and personal reviews on both products and related models. I do suspect that over time Canik will rise in cost just as CZ did once people discover it. Take your time with your decision. Good luck.

I wish there was a Canik equivalent of the RAMI. The Stingray is Canik's version of the CZ75 compact, well, almost. The C-100 is closer. The Stingray has ambi safety and a full dust cover.

Get a "real" CZ, or you will always want it. A metal framed one to start, either all steel, or aluminum alloy. 75B, P-01, PCR, SP-01, etc.

If considering alternatives, I'd look around for an Armalite AR-24. The only forged steel framed CZ type you can find.
If you stumble across and old Springfield P9, those were really nicely fitted as well. If I were to buy a real CZ, I'd get a stainless with an Omega trigger. Then I'd file the trigger guard back down to the original round profile. That's a handsome gun. |

Another thing to consider with the TriStar L-120. I like the alloy frame of my T-120, but if you like a heavier gun you could also get the S-120, with a steel frame, for a couple bucks less than the L-120 with it's alloy frame.

CZ clones are usually quite good
The superior design of the CZ seems to lend itself to high quality clones. TriStar or canik ought to be as good as the original.

So, do all of the Full size CZ's have Steel Frames? I like the idea of the lighter alloy, but it ultimately doesn't matter...Just curious.

Get the CZ 75BD. You won't regret it. Add a set of VZ grips, load yourself down with MecGar CZ 75 mags, and you're good to go. I've looked at the copies, but can't make myself get it. You're much better off spending a little extra in this case.

Various CZs have steel, alloy and plastic frames. The alloy ones may just be compacts, though.

What Pyzon said,,,
Quote:
The complete CZ Kadet pistol. Not only have the CZ pistols proven to be good fieryarms,,, Their customer service has been excellent as well. The clones might torn out to be good pistols,,, But their customer service isn't proven. A lady friend of mine has a Canik 9mm,,, Hers seems to be a great performer,,, So I can't really rag on the pistols,,, But it surely isn't a real CZ. When you have them both in your hand at the same time,,, The small differences become apparent rather quickly. It's your decision,,, Choose wisely Grasshopper. Aarond .

I have over 16 k rds with my phantom, I sent it to cajun f I r an overvall, the speing on the decocker was shot, he cganged tge firing pin (it was not broken but he said might as well do that) basicly nothing was wrong with it after so much use and abuse. I never held / shot the clone so I cannot comment on them.
You will spend much much more on ammo than the price difference between tge 2 |

I've been a CZ guy for 12 years.
I went to Buds recently to pick up a CX4, and happened to see the rental counter on the way out. I talked with the counter guy for a bit and he pointed out the large collection of Canik handguns, claiming they are just as good as CZ's but 3/4 the price. Of course I handled a couple, and first impression was how rough and stiff the action and controls are. One model had a safety, and I could barely disengage it. It really felt like a Xerox machine copied a CZ and didn't bother to photoshop the roughness out. Pass. BTW I had a 75bd for years. Skip it, get the 75b model. It can be tuned a lot easier. |
