I received some bad news yesterday and thought I'd share the lesson with all of you. Early this week, a close friend of mine whom I've known for 20+ years was shot and killed during a mugging. Ed was a Marine, combat veteran, LEO, expert outdoorsman, and one hell of a shot. I don't know if he was carrying that night but I'm almost certain he was. He was surprised by three muggers as he was getting into his car and shot three times in the chest. The moral: in the real world, in armed confrontations, the good guys sometimes lose. That's why it is important to read these scenarios, analyze the responses, and take what you learn out into the world. TFL is a great resource and if you take what you learn seriously, it might save your life or the life of someone you love. Thanks everybody, and be safe.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. The world is that much sadder for the loss of one of our good people.
One of the threads that I had written...human nature, we cannot be "on" all the time, but we try our best.
We have to get it right all the time, the BG's...only once.

Our prayers go with you and your friend and his family. God Bless.

NY978, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Best wishes to you, and to Ed's family.

Thank you for participating on TFL. In my time here, I've benefited from a number of such stories, as well as the counsel of a number of fine members who have passed on. I am grateful for every word.

Regards from AZ
