GEEZE, guys!
How are we gonna convince the casual lurkers that handloading is a safe and sane and rational passtime?

Anyway, Johny, this doesn't have anything to do with reloading and safety. It has to do with being a klutz! (He types, using his still slightly sore pinky from his owie on Saturday.)

Heck - the greatest danger I face when going to the range (not counting driving a 15-year-old truck down the highway) comes from having to carry all the crap...
Box with rest and sandbags - probably weighs around 40-50 pounds Toolbox with loading tools- probably around 45-50 - had to reinforce the handle Toolbox with cleaning tools - probably about 20 Toolbox with misc. tools - probably around 40 pounds Extra barrels and wrench (heck, I just take 'em...) - usually around 30 pounds worth Bullets - I'd guess the box weighs around 40 pounds or so - I get nervous when it gets lighter Brass & Powder probably run around 2-3 pounds for the brass, but if I'm trying several jugs of powder - heck that's usually between 5 and 8 pounds/jug... Cased rifle probably weighs around 20-25 pounds. When camping, things get REALLY interesting.

If three or four gins don't alleviate the pain, an additional three or four bourbons oughta help just fine!
Ya know, if ya keep that sort of thing on the floor, there won't be near as much problem with "dropsy". , Art |

There are two other ways to view this incident:
1. He has remarkable marksmanship skills. 500 out of 500 bullets hit the target, or 2. The .38 has poor stopping power. 500 bullets hit the target but failed to incapacitate the individual (unless we include the gin).

Actually, Johnny, handloading is one of the few times on a short list when I actually make a concentrated effort at being safe, sane and rational.

Mike, to quote a not so great American, "I feel your pain".Literally. Broke my big toe working out today and then had to work all night climbing around on airplanes. Haven't seen a leech yet, but my expert opinion tells me that the throbbing purple deal isn't good. Now I gotta hobble off to the range to test my new toy tomorrow, oh the misery. Currently on beer #1 and about 1400mg of motrin, transitioning to beer #2, all better soon.

Well, this thread has officially continued longer than the pain in my foot.

Ok Mike..................now in the words of the past a****** of a so called president................I feel your pain. I was just on the loading bench and was moving some plastic boxes that contain 500 each of some commercial 148 HBWC's that I scored 1000 of on E-Bay and when I hefted them I thought about your foot. Now I don't have any gin to offer but if you were nearby I could offer you some Stolichnaya Vokda that a Russian friend from Kiev brought me last hitch in Syria........................that is if some remains........it's going quick, so my advice is either got to that Redwing Boot site I sent you or don't drop another one

About a week or two ago, I was making a new base onto which I’d bolt my single-stage press. The press was lying on its side and I picked it up from the top without securing the handle (I usually leave it rubber-banded to the press so 4-year old hands don’t monkey with it).
So, as I picked it up the handle responded to gravity, and I had my thumb-nail “deprimed.” Yowza! The nail got perforated, but I didn’t lose the whole thing. captHoek – look out for those scooters! They’re dangerous for old folks to be riding around. Semper fi, Bruegger out. |
