is this a problem if the ratchet on my 17-2 looks like this
well my 1960 something 17-2 seems to have good lockup and timing to me-- but the ratchet star ( i think it is called ) is pretty chewed up and was just wondering if this is a serious problem?
i shot about 200 downrange and she seemed to shoot accurate, i didnt notice anything out of the ordinary... excep sometimes it was difficult to open the cylinder after closing it with 6 rounds loaded... it always seemed to be easy to open after shooting the rounds. appreciate all the insight. mike |

Doesn't look good.
Problem is, you can't just pick up another ejector, since the ejector is a factory fitted part that requires skilled work to install and fit properly. Personally, I'd send it in to S&W for a new ejector and a check-up as to WHY it's chewing up the ratchet. |
