Recomend a Cabinet
Can anyone recommend a cabinet for my guns?
I have a young child and I want to move everything to a cabinet for safety They are locked in various ways now, but I want something more substantial. Price is a big concern because I need something inexpensive, but I would like it to be a combination rather than keyed system. I think that would be safer. I know have 3 and a half guns. All rifles. (the half is an old beat up .22 that I may try to restore.) Anyway, what could you guys recommend? |

I have been looking into it and I am thinking of making a gun cabinet out of some left over wood from other projects.
Other than the front combo lock and the wood, what should I do to keep things dry? I was thinking of vents since this is to keep the kids out more than keeping out the bad guys. Or maybe some sort of heating element. |

Ok. I found the most perfect form of recycling.
I am going to turn some old school lockers into a gun cabinet. I know this will not be fire safe, but it should be kid safe, which is my goal. I will post some pics once it is done. But do I need to do anything to make sure the guns stay dry? |

I got the Stack On security cabinet (http://stack-on.com/securityplus/gun.../gc-908-5.html) for my rifles and the smaller one that attaches to its top for ammo and handguns, and they have worked out great. Certainly not as secure as a safe, but enough for my needs. Bolts to a concrete floor easily.

I have the Stack on as well, but the double door model(handguns). Very happy with it.
