Wyomings Upcoming Gun laws

You need "Three readings" (votes) in the Wyoming house to get a bill through.

All three of these bills passed their second reading, one more to go.

Guns in Schools: Upon passing any CCW holder in Wyoming can carry their firearms in K-12 and colleges and school activities.

Gun State: No local government, City County, or town can pass any gun law.

Guns Federal: This law would charge any federal agent who tries to enforce any fed gun law and executive order on magazine and firearm size, and semi-auto weapons in Wyoming.

Having heard about the allowing suppressors for hunting status.

I love this state.

All three of these passed third reading today and are House engrossed.

HB0103 State Preemption
HB0104 Firearm Protection Act (Federal)
HB0105 Citizens and Students Self Defense Act

HB0005 and SF0132 are similarly titled "Silencers, suppressors and automatic weapons while hunting" for the House bill and "Silencers, suppressors and automatic weapons." for the Senate file. Both are sitting in the Travel committee of the respective chamber. Still over a month to go, though.

The "Guns Federal" thing you note is just silly posturing, but our legislature is sometimes very good at that.

And the school/gun thing...some of it isn't very well thought through. There is some amusement (not quite the right word) in some quarters about the vision of the college football stadium being sprinkled with concealed-carriers...after about 4 hours of hard tailgating. Not to mention that someone ought to call the NCAA, perhaps even check in to see how the referees feel about it.

But I'm sure they'll sort it all out.

To keep this on topic: the gun weather is always sunny and mild.

But if you're talking what it is like outdoors in Wyoming...well:

I have hunted on mornings when it's 30 below. I have fished on afternoons when it's 105. I have been on a mountain bike when I had to pedal to go downhill because I was facing the wind.

Generally, every day's forecast is this: "It's not for the faint of heart."

Those are good trends, let's hope other states do likewise.

Cold and windy 8-9 months a year, hot and windy the rest of the time.

Actually we can get some pretty nice weather from June through September. Today was 50 degrees and 30-40mph winds all day.

The remaining two bills are up for consideration in the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, but Thursday is the deadline for bills to be reported out of committee in the second house.

So much for a Wyoming National Championship... On a serious note, do your dorm housed kids with permits get to keep and bear in student housing?

No idea. I kept my Single Six .22 in my dorm room when I was there, but that was thirty years ago.

Applause for the Governor!!

Actually,it is a myth that the wind blows all the time in Wyoming. There is a temporary lull as it changes direction. That is when particularly vicious swarms of mosquitos with the temperment of african killer bees emerge.

If you do go there camping,I recommend cast iron cookware.

A cast iron dutch oven is good to carry your gear icefishing.

I have seen portable ice fishing shelters filled with screaming people roll by at remarkable rates of speed.

You occasionally see shreds of the modern backpack gear buzzing in the wind on a sagebrush.

No one stocks parts for a Prius

There are no Boca Burgers on the shelf.

I've used Boca burgers before. They actually make pretty good reactive targets. I considered Boca burgers as a replacement for ballistic gel. Any vegan gunner could probably give us some tips. I have to go to Santa Fe and see if I can generate any interest in them.

Both HB103 and 104 were passed out of committee this morning and placed on the Senate general file. They have to be read in by Friday and passed by Tuesday. Here the schedule for the next week:

Quote:
February 21 is the last day for bills to be reported out of Committee in second house.
February 22 is the last day for Committee of the Whole on bills in the second house.
February 25 is the last day for second reading on bills in the second house.
February 26 is the last day for third reading on bills in the second house.

Today is the deadline for bills to be introduced in the second house, but neither of the house bills is on the calendar for today. They could still be scheduled at the last minute, but right now it's not looking good.
