Will slugs/unplated buckshot plug the gas posrt on a shotgun?

Would using rifled slugs (no sabots) or plain (no wad cup) buckshot in a gas-operated shotgun render it non-functional quickly? I've fired both through a friend'd 1187 and it worked fine, but I didn't get to clean it afterward to see the crud...

No problem with either in my experience with an 11-87.

Gas guns seem to require more attention than others, Oleg. If frequently cleaned, I see no prob.

Depends on your definition of quickly

In theory, heavier shells, whether slugs, buck or shot, will clog gas systems faster because the slower powders used for heavier rounds leave greater amounts of unburned powder and residue. Take a peak down your barrel after firing magnum loads compared to target rounds.
In practice, it would take hundreds of rounds to get to the point where this would reduce functioning. I've owned both an 11/87 and Beretta 390 up for slugs and buck and neither ever jammed due to clogged gas ports. The guns were kept lubricated but not always cleaned as diligently as they should have.
