More feedback on DIY Stocks

For a finish, is Tru-oil any good and with additional coats and rubbing compound, can you get it to Shine??
Also.........why wouldn't a Min-wax Gel Stain with several coats of the Min-Wax outdoor Spar finish work, rubbed with Brownell's 5F Stock Compound and cheeseclothed clean, between coats???

Kye Oat: If you want a shiny finish, TruOil will give it to you without having to polish it up. You have to work on TruOil to kill the shine -- not to bring it up.
