.30-06 with 7rd capacity (Not Garande)

What are some options for a .30-06 rifle beside the Garande that can hold 7+ rounds of ammo.

Cobb had an AR type .30-06.
But Cobb was absorbed by Bushmaster and Bushmaster by Remington and Remington by Freedom Group. The long action ARs just kind of got lost in the shuffle.

Years ago rumor was that the Vepr was going to be chamberd in30-06. Don't think they ever did but they do have one in x54r so it may be possible tlfor a gunsmith to rechamber one.

Also- Brownell's and a few other places offer bottom metal and 10rnd clips for the Rem 700 bolt actions.

A standard Winchester 70 holds 5+1 in the chamber for a total of 6 in all standard calibers. Close enough for me.

30.06 with 7rd capacity

There was a conversion of the 03 Springfields to a 10 rd(?)box magazine many years ago, never seen one commercially available. Also the MKIV SMLE was converted to .308 with a 10 rd magazine. Not quite an 06 tho.

you're going to have a tough time finding anything in 30-06 with more than 3-4 rounds that isn't a garand. i am not aware of any semi auto rifles with that ammo capacity chambered in 30-06... not to say they don't exist but they definitely are not going to be easy to get ahold of.

Edink, any particular reason you haven't considered any of the numerous semi-autos in .308 where this magazine capacity is easily achieved?

M1941 johnsons I have seen going for around 2 to 3 grand semi recently. They arent hard to find online. They are semi auto. You can get a 1918 bar semi auto for like 4 or 5. They are a bit harder to find.

Somehow, I read the original post as a query about guns he could buy, not exotic weapons like the BAR light machinegun, the Johnson, and the Air Service M1903.

There are extended (10 round) magazines available for the pump and semi-auto Remingtons, and bolt action rifles can be altered to accept detachable ten (and more) round magazines.

A 1917 bolt action. Great guns, but a tad heavy.

My dad's from his youth will put them in an inch at 100 still!

Well, there's this (relatively new) offering -

http://www.onlylongrange.com/bn36.asp

It is not an AR-10, but a custom receiver built for long-action cartridges like the .30-06.

I believe you can order a .30-06 model now, and they are working on .270 Win and others with slightly higher pressures.

Ive seen and still see plenty of johnsons for sale and see advertisements for semi auto 1918 BAR rifles in shotgun news every week. He never mentioned a budget that I saw, but from what I recall he already has a few nice things. Hell, there is a real full auto BAR coming up for sale at Rock Island Auction in a week or so. They think 10 to 17. I guess he could go for that too if he wanted.
