mossberg stock wont come off

Hello everyone
ive tried more than once to remove the stock off of my mossberg 500 but i cannot get the stock bolt to budge, ive tried a screw driver and a socket wrench. Its a wood stock if that makes any difference. what do i need to do to remove the stock?
thanks

Can you turn the stock screw and get that out or is it stuck.

It might be rusted up. Use a socket with a breaker bar. Maybe you can get some penetrating oil down into it. You might try lightly hammering the breaker bar to try and shake it loose. HTH.

The bolt is loctited in place. Put socket wrench back on. With one hand hold resistance pressure so ratchet don't bounce. With a mallet or sort 2X4 whack the ratchet handle. Do this several times and then try to wrench it loose.

If you were to try chuckles idea DO NOT SPRAY OILS INTO STOCK! It won't get to threads anyway and will ruin the stock. Bolt end is visible inside reciever if you field strip it.

yes the bolt is stuck and it is not rusted in place because its a new shotgun.
i will try your idea hotdogs and if it doesnt work I'll just call mossberg for a second time. I called em once already 15 minute hold only to be redirected to a number that went straight to the answer machine

also the reason Im trying to get the stock bolt loose is to remove the trigger guard which is stuck because of the bolt being to tight

The whack a ratchet should work... Also add a fairly thick washer when you reassemble to avoid trigger group binding...

Luckily, you didn't break the stock - I had that happen with a Browning - used a large screwdriver and vise grips for leverage and the stock cracked right through the wrist. Several hundred bucks later, Brpowning replaced my cast neutral stock with a RH one.....and I'm a leftie..........
