I didn't want to spend $20 bucks for a flashlight mount for my mm, or use tape or zip-ties. So I picked up one of those tiny streamlight keymates, it has a pocket clip on it. I removed my magazine support, and clipped it around it, layed a piece of electrical tape over the clip so it wouldn't scratch the barrel and magazine. It has just enough clearance so you can still rotate the head of it to turn it on without it rubbing on the barrel or magazine. It fits tight. real tight, you can barely move it once everything is tightned back down. It turned out pretty good, it kind of cocks the light to the side, but from a 5' and farther distance you can't tell though. That light is brighter than you would think.






I think it turned out well, for all I would ever need it for. sorry about the blurry pictures.

Just curious?? on the last pic. it looks like the mag ext tube is flushed with the barrel. Did it came like this? I have a 870 MM also but my mag ext tube sticks out past the barrel for at least 1/2 inch. Here's a pic.

So the Streamligth keymate is a navigation light? I can't see that it would be much of a threat identification light unless you have the muzzle in the face of the person you are trying to identify. It may be brighter than we think, but they aren't that bright. In fact, at peak, it is 4.3 whole lumens. http://www.brightguy.com/detail_int.php?Sku=STR72001

It could be argued that it is 'better than nothing' but that could be speculative when you consider the fact that you don't have any way to quickly activate or deactivate it. These lights have a rotary twist switch. Such switches are not quick or convenient for weapons lights. You need a switch on the forend or you need the light mounted on the forend. As I assume this is a light for a home defense gun, you want the light to at least sufficiently illuminate most of the effective range of bird shot, and I don't think it will do it. If it is for home defense, then spend the money for a real weapon light or something of significant brightness and ability to handle the recoil. Why you would put a $9.50 keychain light on a $500+ shotgun as a weapon light is boggling...unless it is simply a navigation light.

As for the photographs, there is no reason for them to be blurry and the fix is really quite easy. Instead of moving the camera close to the items being photographed, move to the proper focus distance and take the picture. If digital, crop the image to only include the item in the picture you want, in this case, the light and mount. If it is a photograph, scan in and resize to an appropriate size for display. If already digital, it still may be large after resizing. If not, resize using graphics software.

I just bought the gun about 3 months ago, it has the j-lock (I want to remove the lock, but don't know exactly how) and the magazine is maybe 1 or 2 mm's longer than the barrel, and as for the brightness of the light, the reason I did it was to see where I am aiming, not identification of an intruder. If there is somebody in my house they are breaking and entering.

CAAT- rem just started producing the shorter mag tube due to the problem of trying to stuff an extra shell in it. (you couls get six and about 2/3 of another in there) but often it would kink the spring. they shortened the tube about 1/2 inch to solve this. I think it is just 2006 production guns that have this difference.

Thanks, silicone wolverine It use to trip me out how come some 870 MM has a shorter mag tube than mine. I though mine was connected in a wrong way.
