finding kenetic energy?

The formula I have is K=(1/2)(MASS)(SPEED) I must be doing something stupid because I come up with a very large number!

Mass Is 250 grains
Speed is 1600 fps what's the final foot lbs?

Mass X (Velocity)2 divided by 450,200
250x(1600x1600)divide by 450,200 = 1,422 ft/lbs

This should get you close.

I Suspect the answer you originally arrived at was inch/grains not foot pounds. Yep that would be a very big number
