Testing loads with 300win
So i got bored on the weekend and decided to test some different loads, i usually go with 71.0gr of ar2209 with federal magnum match primers and Nosler BT150 Spitzers, which will generally give me a group of .6-8" at 100.
i tried from 70gr to 72gr in .2gr intervals and it spread the groups out to 1.5 with alot of those loads... i dont understand how just .2gr can make it spread so much. what loads do any of you guys put through your 300winmags to get the tightest groups? |

300wm
I have two totally different loads for two 300 WM. One is a Browning Bar that likes 53.4 gr of 4064 and the other is a T/C Encore that likes 64.5 gr of 4064. I did not meantion the bullet size because the T/C load is a hot load but is fine in my T/C .

Never shot a bullet as light as 150g in a 300M! But, for 180g 72g or H4831. For 200g 70g H4831. Same loads work well in 7MMM with 160-165 g bullets 62g H4831. In 30-06 just fill the case and put your 150g bullet on top ... 58-60g. Note the H in front of 4831, please.

thanks
Thanks for the replies!
I will order 500grams of H4831 and use some Nosler 180grain projectiles i have. As for 4064 i havent found anyone who stocks that. Still in early days of my reloading career, but its just great to test loads and see performance changes, love it! |

I have used 78gr reloader 22 behind Speer 165gr spbt, CCI 250 mag primers , scoots along at about 3100fps and groups into .5 at 100.
Also 180 gr Sierra gamekings Reloader 25 82gr federal 215 mag primer 3100fps and still around .5 at 100

I have a Remington Sendero heavy barrel .300 winMag with a Leupold 6.5X20 target scope. It likes 150 Sierra Matchkings, 168 Sierra Matchkings and 165 Nosler Ballistic Tips. I use RL 19.
I throw the powder straight out of the measure, and it varies by .2 to .3 grains plus of minus. My 10 (yes TEN shot group at 200 yards run 7/8 to 1 inch. Again, 200 yard, 10 shot groups. If you're having accuracy problems with .2 variations, there's something wrong other than your powder charge.
