There is a shiny vertical line on the forcing cone of my S&W 331...

I first thought the cylinder was touching somewhere. However, I've held the little J-frame up to a strong light and, with A-Zoom snap caps, "dry-snapped" away at every angle and the gap always stays the same. AWAY from the cone. It just does not touch. Any of you 'smiths care to give me an opinion as to what makes this one shiny line on the cone?
I'd appreciate it. I thought the line might be something that the factory put there for some reason as the assembly of the revolver took place, but I'm just guessing.

First check to be sure the bright spot is not a crack. Then read my posting on the previous thread about insufficient barrel-cylinder gap. It should be .006". If less, the cylinder can expand from heat and rub any high spot on the cone.

Thanks for the reply Jim..

I've got a magnifying glass right here and there's no crack. I'll go down and get my feeler gauge and check the gap. While I had the glass out, I took a good look at the titanium cylinder and there not a scratch on it. Curiosity--get's me every time!
