That is not the number for member services. These are:
1-877-NRA-2000 Life Members: 1-800-672-3888 Not saying it is a scam just saying that number is not on their website.

That was easy. Something I should have done a long time ago. I am now a Life Member of the NRA.

I see the primary benefit to NRA membership is that it's a side-effect of giving them money that aids their (imho) most important and only real function, defending gunownership. Well, and the cool hat.
So to everyone who's signed up, you have my thanks. And while I recently did a 3-year renewal, now's probably as good a time as any for me to follow the good example of others and give them another 300 to fight with. . . |

or...since NRA is a half worthless institution anyway and anyone that has ever even glanced at their website seems to get spam from every venue possible for the rest of their lives, I would probably forgo the lifetime membership.
they also insult their member base by dumbing down all of their materials to the lowest possible level, making it easier for their predominately uneducated hillbilly members to follow along with what's happening which just goes on to strengthen the stereotype that NRA membership is synonymous with being a rootn tootn south will rise agin preachn redneck. one reason why I am not renewing my membership with them this year and will probably not ever re-up ever again.

+1 for SC928porsche
In addition, I don't think it is appropriate to malign the members of an organization simply because you don't like that organization. |

and yes I gave them money to defend my gun rights and I get a new sweepstakes in the mail at least once a month giving away up to 25 guns or a $7,000 hunting trip to a single individual with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and even 10th place prizes for up to 3,000 additional lucky members it really makes me wonder where they are using my money to do more than entertain people. they can raise a fuss over gun laws but where is their power in the house of representative or the senate? where is the 5 seats in congress devoted to NRA officials to make sure we always have our guns? oh they don't have those, well then where is the seat in the US supreme court that is reserved for NRA representatives? oh they don't have one either... somehow I am starting to think that the NRA has no REAL power to protect my gun rights and never really did in the first place. all they can do is rally a bunch of country bumpkins to protest a law that will be passed regardless of how loud they shout into a microphone. ultimately, it's the population masses in the large cities that decides the laws that decides the fate of our nation, the occupants of new york city, seatle, miami, los angelas, and chicago have more say in who we elect president than all of the other residents in the nation combined, if gun control were to be put to a vote we would have our guns confiscated tomorrow by majority vote, it's that simple.

So? Join both and have the best of both. NRA = Lobby Power. SAF = Litigation Power.

My wife and I just became life members. The phone number in the OP works. (I just hope it isn't a scam!)
And I hope they don't send me two copies of that magazine. Not sure how they upgrade your membership. |

In light of today's revelations...
Why aren't more of you signing up? None of the money you pay for NRA membership goes towards funding the lobbying efforts of the NRA-ILA. That's a separate organization (even though it bears the NRA name). What it does do for the NRA and its efforts within the NRA-ILA is to increase the numbers of people it represents when the ILA addresses the Congress. The higher the number, the greater the clout! |
