nosler solid base
Anyone here remember Nosler's Solid Base bullets? Dang fine bullets, priced competitively with Sierra and Speer. I have a load for my 6mm Rem that I have yet to duplicate with any other bullet. I found a cache of 270 cal 150s on a closeout shelf and bought every box, guess I going to have to buy a gun in that chambering now.

Caution, possible internet myth! I had heard that nosler is bringing the solid base back in some calibers. A lot of us "oldsters" are asking for them, having worked up loads for them that were deadly on deer. And we're getting tired of the bullet that replaced them, the ballistic tip(BOMB).

Yes, Old One I too remember the Solid Base and I have several boxes in my stash just to make you jealous. I have 4 full boxes of 55 gr. .224s (2) without cannelures, and (2) with; 1 box of 120 gr. .25s, (2) boxes of 75gr. 6mms, and (2) boxes of 85 gr. 6mms. NO they are not for sale. Good news if Nosler is bringing them back, for sure. Some of my favorite and most accurate loads and shots have been with the SB. Enjoy. CB

I heard that they were coming back also, but perhaps not across the board. Also I wonder if they will be priced up there with the "premium bullets" we like but (at least me) can't afford to shoot many of.

+1 on the Nosler Solid Base. I still have several boxes in 6mm and 7mm stashed in my reloading supplies.
Good shooting and be safe. LB |

Yes crowbeaner I am jealous. I have a beat up old Remington 700 that absolutely loves the old Solid Bases in any weight. I'm down to 14 loaded rounds... I hate to watch them go.

Old One you should check ebay; from time to time someone has a few boxes. I saw some up for auction a few weeks ago. Sorry but I can't remember what they were but I recognized the black and red boxes as SBs.

Thanks for the link Snuffy, I'm glad to see them but I did notice they're boxed 50 count instead of 100 like "the good old days"... thats just progress I guess, they're still cheaper than ballistic tips. Crowbeaner, I'll check evil bay as you suggest.
