Need help with powder measure
I just got an RCBS Little Dandy pistol powder measure. I had one in the past
and loved it, and was happy to get this one for reloading for my .357 magnum. The problem is, the ENTIRE inside of the device - the plastic tube, the metal lower part, and the rotor (#18), are completely covered with a very thin coat of some kind of thin oil or something, and powder sticks to it like glue. The final thrown charge was supposed to be 16.6 gr. of H110, but it threw only 16.1 - the rest was at various places inside the device. What is the correct way to REALLY clean this thing and get it to clean, bone-dry condition? I'm thinking of maybe soaking it in alcohol.....? Thanks Ruark Last edited by Ruark; November 12, 2010 at 06:06 PM. |

Dawn dishwashing liquid, hot water, and an air compressor?
Mine had some kind of wicked static electricity when new, but that was about it.

You'll need to remove, what I call the packing oil/grease. they put that on at the manufacturing plant to protect against rust. I just cleaned mine with a gun cleaner and spayed on a little dry lube. (Not Hoppes) Cleaning before using should have been in the instructions.

Same thing with my new RCBS 1500. Seems they'd figure this stuff out and fix it before they ship it.
