223 green tip, anyone reloaded these

MBSS109 22CAL 62GR FMJSCBT SS109

Curious if anyone has loaded any of these steel core rounds in 223? Ordered some from Wideners and awaiting arrival. Not sure if I would use a normal 62 grain load data. I would think these bullets would be longer because they are not lead but steel. I have found load data for MIL bullets in 62gr but not sure if they are the same bullet, M855 is the spec from AA.

I use them with 22 grains of 8208XBR. Have also tried 23.5 gr H335, 24 gr TAC. The 8208 load seems the most accurate and clean.
Also OAL is about maxed out when seated to mid cannalure. Seat one and try it in your mag/chamber.

mine aren't green tip, but...

I have been buying the 62 gr. FMJSCBT SS109 from Wideners and have had zero problems with using standard published data. Don't have my references here with me but IIRC for H-335 the range was 23.0-25.0 grains; I ran the gamut in 0.2 gr increments and settled on 24 gr just to avoid wear and tear on the rifle. I have however noted that I must seat them to where the canalure is almost inside the neck to comply with the magazine length.

Accurate load guide 3.5 http://thefiringline.com/forums/atta...8&d=1326576578 :

2230 62 MIL M855 21.4 2,785 23.8 3,050 54,137 2.260
2230 62 MIL FMJ 21.2 2,791 23.6 3,072 55,000 2.223

The first one i sthe green tip/SS-109/Penetrator. The second is lead inside copper, but the same weight.

Note: They give different loads for different guns (pressure specs, bolt action, military chambers, etc.). This is ONE of the loads/gun types.

The SS109 / M855 steel penetrator bullets will bore through steel reinforced concrete (@~3 rounds per inch), and possibly, ricochet. They can also cause sparks, and are prohibited at some National Forest ranges.

Thank you gentleman. Looks like I can use the load data on M855 and work from there.
