western holster for 1858 rem 44 cal?

Can somebody tell me where I can get a western style holster, and belt for a 1858 rem .44 cal new model army pistol? Do you just use any western style rig that will fit a 44/45? Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! Shameless plug for myself here, but feel free to check out the links in my signature to my leatherworking pages. I do happen to have an 1858 holster for sale. (hint, hint)lol.

Cabela's is a usual source for production type holsters and belts. Hope this helps a bit.

Too much of Cabela's leather is chrome tanned and won't hold up to heavy use. For every now and then it's ok as long as you don't oil it.

western holster

Thanks for the info. I guess the next question is, does the holster come with a belt, or could you make one for me IDAHOMIKE?

+2 For Mike

Capper,

Let Mike do you one up. He does great work, I'm Loving my new holster with the '58 Sheriff shoved in it. And Yes Mike I wear it around the house LOL My wife thinks I'm a looney tune, but hey I gotta break it in or at least thats my excuse Pop in Pale Rider and we are right at home LOL, but I can't swap cylinders as fast as he did. Wonder how many takes that scene took?

I can't wait. with everything I've seen, and read,I'm sure it will be nothing short of a work of art. I'm already thinking about another one for a different gun.

I came across this site a while ago which has a series of holsters expressly for black powder revolvers.

A little pricey, but they look fantastic.

http://harrisonleather.com

Go to the holsters and rigs menu, and you'll see the Black Powder category.
