Crap. I knew I felt a disturbance in the force. Now we're gonna get it.

Without a purpose (hunting close woods, hunting prairies, paper punching) this poll is pretty useless. I just went with the 'bigger is better' theory and the .308 IS a good overall round.

I like the 308 Cartridge. ( especially if you neck it up to a 338 Federal )

From the options listed -- the 308 is the way to go

This seems like a silly question really. The best rifle is the one you can make do what you want it to when you want it to.

Aw, C'mon.......

#ONE: .270 Winchester. #TWO: .30-06 Springfield. You can switch positions of 1 & 2 if you prefer. #THREE is a tie between .308 Winchester, .243 Winchester, and .30WCF. There are lots more good ones but these are more practical due to ammo cost and availability.

I knew the 308 would be the run-away favorite, so I went with the 220 Swift.

But if the OP's question had been, "What is the sexiest cartridge?" You all know the 220 Swift would have trounced the 308 and beat the rest like rented mules.

Just sayin'.
