Hot tub, where to put a gun?
I was sitting in my hot tub tonight (beautiful evening btw) and just started thinking how isolated I was. The noise from the hottub, it was dark, its about 15 yards from the house door. Where is a good place to store a gun?

Yeah. And line the wood box with plastic or something else waterproof, to protect the gun *and* the towels. :-)

I would get a cheap Uncle Mikes shoulder rig and use a stainless revolver with hogue overmoulded rubber grips. dab some toe nail polish around the primers. I use "Cajun Shrimp" by OPI. It is a very popular color.

How about a small table or a shelf next to the tub where you could reach it immediately if necessary?

Is that your first line of defense, or are you just happy to see me?
Expand your perimeter with some motion-detector lights or alarm (silent or otherwise).
If you were in a military situation, you would let some enjoy the hot tub while others stood guard. One doesn't relax from "combat ready" unless the location is secure. I wouldn't be able to relax if I felt a gun at hand was THAT necessary. Now, if your threat is four-legged, the rules change a little. Need for concealment goes away and a long gun becomes more appropriate. But the expanded perimeter advice still stands. If the threat is no-legged (snakes) I don't have an immediate answer. Enjoy your soaks. Lost Sheep |

It’s simple; use a water pistol.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist.) No, keep your water hose in the tub with you and be ready to hose the BG down. These characters never practice good hygiene and are scared to death of water. (Sorry, still finding it hard to resist.) Okay, seriously: Use a large Zip-Lock bag. Tape one side to the top edge of the tub, use duct tape, with the tape on the inside of the flap. Tape you a “tab” of doubled tape on the other flap to have you a “handle” for a quick-grab opening. Put your gun inside and zip it shut. The “tub” side flap should be securely taped so that if you grab the “you” side flap the bag rips open and doesn’t just pull away from the tub wall. |

They make deck-seats and enclosures that are waterproof for keeping towels, etc in.... maybe I'm just too simplistic but I would just tote it out there with me and set it under the top towel in the bin that has the towels in it.....

Ive toted a NAA Mini in a high quality ziplock type bag and placed it in a zipper pocket of my swimming shorts. Once when I did this I found water had gotten into the bag so I took the opportunity to testfire the soaked CCI velocitor's that were loading in the gun. Sure enough , they worked.
When I first read the original post I thought to myself "Really? Who does that?" hmm...

I keep mine in a Galco fanny pack on a table next to the tub. That way I can have the gun, a spare mag along with a light and even some pepper spray.

Put Roscoe, sans holster, on a chair next to the tub. If you’re concerned enough for your safety to have a firearm at the ready while in a hot tub don’t put it in anything. A tired relaxed body with wet hands attached makes for a terribly slow draw. Lets face it, if you need to be ready, be ready. When it comes to survival the main thing is ,to keep the main thing, the main thing. That’s what the cowboys did and it worked for them.

Prior to a known outing to the hot tub, set up a defensive perimeter with trip flares. The outer ring should be about 100 ft out with rings every 25 ft. If you have some C4, you can most certainly use some of that but make sure it is facing in the proper direction. You wouldn't want any of that blowing back at you because it was facing the wrong way.
With that being done, I would keep a M79 grenade launcher by the hot tub. If the trip wires go off, you can lob a couple of grenades out towards the wires. Probably be a good idea to mount an M60 machine gun on a turret close to the place where you exit the hot tub. Also inside the trip flare perimeter, the kids could man listening posts.. |

When I purchased my hot tub, I got the Delux model - it has 20 different adjustable jets, two multispeed pumps, dual filtering system, automatic chlorinator, "armoa therapy", and a built in stereo system.
The sales guy was really pushing the super-delux model with the robotic multiple BG eliminator which can only be activated by pressing an internal button with your big toe. He told me I'd regret not upgrading....and I really do. PS: If you need a gun in your hot tub you really need to move! |

Hope that's one well-made fog-proof scope!..
After seeing what chlorine pool water and humidity did to my stainless steel grill, I wouldn't be doing that at all........ |

You know, after deleting over half the posts of noise, I think this isn't going anywhere.
