cleaning my mp15 soon

if my solvent shippment comes in today i'll be cleaning my smith and wesson mp15 sporter for the second time since i bought it. i put 32 rounds through it so far and haven't cleaned it since then. smith and wesson says to clean it after you shoot it or the longer you don't clean it the harder it is to clean.

I wouldnt yet. I assume you did the initial cleaning/lube? If so, I would wait a couple hundred rounds.

Except for my initial cleaning and lubing, my 2 rifles are near the 800 round mark. I plan to really clean them at the 1000 rounds mark.

Not saying you shouldnt familiarize yourself more with the rifle, but it doesnt "need" cleaning. I had a couple Smith and Wesson AR's back in the days I put through at least 500 rounds before cleaning.

yes i cleaned it all out and lubed it when i got it. because it was test fired at the factory. it smelled of gun powder. it will be months before i shoot it again so i'd rather clean it now so it won't be hard to clean when the time comes. my solvent just got in so i will be cleaning soon.

I've cleaned guns immediately after the range, and months later and never noticed any more difficulty in waiting to shoot them. Including doing a bunch more shooting with it before cleaning. I don't even remember the last time I cleaned my ar.

The only AR I ever clean every few hundred rounds is my .300bo and that's only if I've been shooting subsonics with my suppressor. Talk about dirty.

I have a .308 AR and I still want a 300blk. Everybody needs a suppressed sbr, it's scientific fact.

Because the only thing it takes to convert to one is a barrel swap. No need for different mag, bolts, springs, or buffers. Supersonic loads are on par with the 7.62x39 and heavy for caliber subsonic loads are a hoot with a suppressor.
The only downside I can think of is ammo cost unless you reload. In that case you can even make your own brass from .223/5.56 cases.

is the blue one your girl friends? that looks intergally suppressed.
The upper is called the TSAR300 from Tactical Solutions. Its an 11" .300bo barrel with a fixed 5" barrel shroud to make it 16" long and beat the NFA tax man. The suppressor attached to it is an AAC SDN-6.
And its my gun. My girlfriends blue gun is a Beretta A400 Xcel

two very different rifles and applications.
1. for one thing, the AR10 on average weighs a full 2 pounds more than the AR15. might not seem like much but it makes offhand shooting, something you seem to be quite fond of, quite difficult for more than a couple shots.

2. 300blk is much lighter in the recoil dept, it might not have the range of the 308, but it does close range quite well.

3. the thing that has made 300 BLK popular is its modularity. as one person here has already said the only difference is the barrel. for $250 a person could build an upper half(minus bolt carrier group) and just swap upper halves and use the same lower and bolt carrier group, and essentially have 2 separate guns. you can not swap AR10 uppers with AR15 lowers.

300 blackout is designed to use all it's powder within the first 8-10 inches of travel down the barrel. Compare that to the 5.56, which is designed for a 20 inch barrel. This means that you can sbr it without losing much velocity. It's also great for running suppressed.

Add in that you can use all the same parts on your 5.56 AR(with the exception of the barrel obviously), and it is much cheaper to build than a 6.5 or 6.8. Only downside is that the ammo is so expensive.
