I've been thinking of starting to reload, and I had a question. Can you reload shotshells on the same press as pistol and rifle cartridges, or are they mutualy exclusive? Thanks.

Nope. They are totally different steps and methods. You need a shot shell press for shotgun reloading.

MUTUALLY EXCXLUSIVE is a good way of describing the thing. Press and dies are NOT at all similar, shotshells being paper or plastic cases, where rifle and or pistol cartridges use metal (brass) cases.

Powders might be interchangeable, at least re pistol and shotgun (for some uses), not likely with rifle ammunition, except for much reduced loads.

Hope this helps. You might also review a loading manual or two, for additional data, as well as manufacturers catalogues.

Guys, I'm reading RCBS's propaganda, and their catalog says (p. 29) that they make a shotgun die set that will fit the standard Rock Chucker, just "remove the top bushing." Try www.rcbs.com, go to "reloading equipment" then "reloading dies" then "shotshell dies."

Anybody know if this concept is worth a darn?
