Rem. 870 Side Saddle

I have just purchased a Remington 870 Express with 18 ½ in. barrel equipped with the extended magazine for HD. I will add a 12 ga, Mesa Tactical 4 round Sureshell carrier from MidwayUSA. They sell the carriers for right and a left sides.

In y’all's opinion which should I purchase, right or left, and why? I have no experience with the side saddle carriers and need to differentiate between the two. This will be the only add-on I will attach to the weapon. Also, how does it attach? Would another choice be best?

I will Load 6 OO Bk in the magazine and 4 slugs in the saddle with an empty chamber.

Thanks up front ----
Slip

I would go with the left side carrier. I have a 6 shot mesa tactical shotshell holder for the left side. I would think that the only reason you would get a right side one would be if you ran out of room on the left side. I feel that on the right sede it would be more out of the way

In view of Dogtown Tom's reference to Mesa problems, how about the TacStar SideSaddle? It has a polymer shell carrier that's attached to a metal plate that installs on the shotgun receiver. Mounting screws are included for an easy installation. It comes in 4 and 6 shell configurations.

my choice is (was) rt hand stock mount because i'm rt handed and reloading feels better that way.
if i were to mount on the receiver it would be left hand, cause thats how my buddies is set up and it feels better that way.
maybe someone you know has on or the other that you can try.
just my 2c

I have the 4 shot shell holder on my 870 and like it. It works for HD. I did install it and have problems with a stiff forend so I called Mesa. They sent a new install kit. She runs great.

Good to see your name!

Trying to ID the forward 2 shells in your first photo, they look like nickled high base? OK, you stumped me what are they?

I see you are running Rem buckshot, I like there 000 flavor.

Good Luck & Be Safe
